Kid Globe owes a lot to space agencies, map makers and creators who share their work. Here is where its pictures, sounds and voice come from.
Textures of the worlds
- Earth, its clouds and its night lights, the relief of the Moon: NASA imagery (Visible Earth, Scientific Visualization Studio), public domain.
- The Moon and the planets: textures by Solar System Scope, derived from NASA imagery, Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. On this site, they are projected onto spinning spheres and appear cropped in the app screenshots.
- Io, Phobos and Deimos: USGS Astrogeology, public domain. Ganymede: Björn Jónsson, after NASA, Creative Commons Attribution license.
- Flags: the flag-icons set, code under the MIT license, flags in the public domain.
AI-generated illustrations
The surface landscapes, the storybook watercolors, the story thumbnails, the album stickers and the textures of worlds no one has photographed in full are AI-generated images, then reworked for the app. They are reconstructions, not photographs.
3D models, music and voice
- The Voyager probe, the satellite and the International Space Station: models by Poly by Google, Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license.
- Music: “Observing The Star” by yd, “Menu Music” and “Space Music” by Nia Mi, on OpenGameArt, in the public domain (CC0).
- The narrating voice: the Adina voice, generated with ElevenLabs and built into the app.
The typeface
Fredoka, by The Fredoka Project Authors, under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, in the app and on this site.
